Training with the technical staff of Lezhe

Trainings continue to increase the capacities of the technical staff of the country’s municipalities by the experts of the State Authority for Geospatial Information (ASIG). The next training took place today, in the premises of the Lezhë Municipality, with the participation of the technical staff of:
  • Directorate of Strategic Projects, Europe, Migration, Diaspora, Communication and Transparency,
  • Directorate of Asset Administration and Cadastre,
  • Directorate of Public Services, Infrastructure, Transport and Environment,
  • Directorate of Territorial Planning and Urban Development.
   

Training with the technical staff of Durres Municipality

The trainings for increasing the capacities of the technical staff of the country’s municipalities by the experts of the State Authority for Geospatial Information (ASIG) continue. The next training took place yesterday on 28.03.2024, in the premises of the Durrës Municipality, with the participation of the technical staff of:
    • Directorate of Control and Development of the Territory;
    • Directorate of Projects and Public Infrastructure;

Meeting of the Geospatial Information Board, dated 28.03.2024

The meeting of the Geospatial Information Board (BIG) took place today, 28.03.2024, in the premises of the Prime Minister’s Office, under the direction of the Chairman of this board, Mr. Ermal Nufi. In the presentation held by the General Director of the State Authority for Geospatial Information (ASIG), Mrs. Vilma Tomço, the main achievements of ASIG during 2023 and the work objectives for 2024 were highlighted. At the end of the presentation, the chairman of BIG Mr. Ermal Nufi appreciated the achievements of ASIG and asked for the cooperation of the institutions that represent BIG members as important actors in the field of geoinformation. Also, at this meeting, two draft acts foreseen by ASIG for the year 2024 were presented:

  • The draft law “On some changes and additions to the law no. 72/2012 “On the organization and operation of the national geospatial information infrastructure in the Republic of Albania”
  • Draft decision for a change in the document “State Standards for Technical Specifications of Geospatial Information in Albania – Topic: Image of the base map”.

After the presentations and discussions, BIG members expressed their approval for these draft acts.
Another item on the agenda at this meeting was the presentation of projects and the role of the Institute of Geography and Military Infrastructure in the field of geoinformation in Albania.

A meeting is held between ASIG and representatives of Satellogic

In the framework of the progress of the “Satellite service” project, a meeting with representatives of Satellogic USA Inc. took place at the premises of ASIG.

The following topics were discussed in this meeting:

  1. Product improvements (Multispectral and Hyperspectral),
  2. Further steps of project development
  3. Technical assistance for creating AI (Artificial Intelligence) models.

 

   

   

Eurogeographics general assembly for 2024

In the General Assembly of EuroGeographics for the year 2024, which took place in Seville, Spain, with the support of the National Geographic Institute of Spain, over 110 delegates from 40 member countries, including Albania, participated.

The team of State Authority for Geospatial Information (ASIG) was headed by the General Director Mrs. Vilma Tomço, who moderated the session “The future of geospatial information”. The main speech of this session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Paul Becker, President of the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG) Germany.

The discussions of this Assembly focused on the geospatial data of the member countries and their role in providing basic information to find solutions to various global challenges.

Also, during this Assembly, meetings and discussions were held at the technical and managerial level where the increase of cooperation for various projects was discussed with representatives from the member countries of EuroGeographics.

The Assembly continued its work with the voting of the next year’s annual budget, the election of the members of the Board of Directors and the President, as well as the approval of applications for new memberships.

   

Training with the technical staff of Kamez Municipality

State Authority for Geospatial Information continues training in order to increase the capacities of the technical staff of the country’s municipalities. ASIG experts conducted today the training with the technical staff of Kamez Municipality with the participation of representatives from:

  1. Directorate of Planning and Development of the Territory
  2. Cadastre Directorate, Board of Drainage, Forests and Pastures and Management and Administration of Assets
  3. Directorate of Projects and Investments
  4. Territory Protection Inspectorate

 

   

   

Training with the technical staff of the Municipality of Tirana

Within the initiative taken by the State Authority for Geospatial Information (ASIG)on purposeincreasing the capacities of the technical staff of the country’s municipalities, the training took place today in the Municipality of Tirana.

The training aimed to provide knowledge to the technical staff of the municipality in the use of the National Geoportal and GIS applications, in order to create, update and publish geospatial data in the National Geoportal, as well as knowledge on the products obtained from the Satellite Service project.

The topics covered in this training are:

  1. Acquaintance with the functionalities of the National Geoportal;
  2. Data collection according to geoinformation topics for: Administrative units and the villages in their composition (order 4 and 5), Local road transport network;
  3. Presentation of the products obtained from the Satellite Service project.

Those present at this training were introduced to:

  • The use of new modules and functionalities of the improved National Geoportal system such as: editor module, georeferencing module, map functionalities, metadata catalog, network services, etc.
  • The use of basic layers for the creation and updating of geospatial data from GIS applications using the services of the National Geoportal network.
  • Technical assistance of specific requirements related to systems and data in the field of geoinformation
  • Harmonization and standardization of geospatial data according to geoinformation topics.
  •  The use of satellite images for special issues in the interest of municipalities.

 

     

     

ASIG participates in the regional workshop on “Strengthening professional access to information about the land, in the Western Balkans region”

Representatives of ASIG participate in the regional workshop which is taking place in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on “Strengthening professional access to land information in the Western Balkan region”, organized by the Dutch Cadastral and Mapping Agency, Kadaster, in within the SAPTIAL II project.

Cadastral and geoinformation agencies from the countries of the Western Balkans participate in this workshop.

The ASIG experts present at this workshop presented the projects developed in the field of Remote Sensing, focusing on the “Satellite Services” project.

The workshop continues with presentations and discussions on geospatial data sharing strategies.
