Geoportal

The National Geoportal is a very important step taken by ASIG in the framework of the creation of the National Geospatial Information Infrastructure. Based on Law 72/2012 “On the organization and operation of the national geospatial information infrastructure in the Republic of Albania”, ASIG is the administrator of the National Geoportal and guarantees access to the public and interested entities in accordance with the provisions of this law.

Always according to this law, the National Geoportal must perform the following functions:

1. User access to Metadata, geospatial data, geospatial data sets and services, and network services provided by this law.
2. The interconnection of cataloguing services, web cartography services and network services provided by Article 23 of Law no. 72/2012 “On the organization and operation of the national infrastructure of geospatial information in the Republic of Albania”, with the thematic layers of created for geospatial data for each of the topics provided for in point 2 of article 11 of this law.

National Geoportal will be a key link in the creation of a stable and effective National Infrastructure, where users can access information on various Geospatial topics which will primarily serve the State Administration but also the ordinary citizen in the processes of information, analysis, decision-making and transparency. In this portal you can access data and geospatial services on Administrative Unit Boundaries, Cadastral Parcels, Address System, Protected Areas, Statistical Units, Orthophoto 2007, Image of Base Maps, Mineral Resources, Geology, etc. This portal is designed to help a wide range of users from technical level to the general public. For this reason, priority has been given to the Tutorial part for using the Maps section, but also to the Technical part for using online services (Web Map Service) in personal GIS Desktop programs.
