Mr. Dritan Prifti, Head of the Remote Sensing Sector at ASIG, attended the Disaster Risk Assesment and Mapping Project Steering Committee meeting, held on 15 November 2018 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. This activity was attended by heads of civil protection agencies, risk management and disaster management institutions as well as representatives from institutions that have a key role in the implementation of this project.
The aim of the project is to establish effective, coherent and EU-oriented national systems for data collection, natural disaster losses, risk assessment and mapping, and the extension and integration into the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
At this meeting, the ASIG representative informed the participants about the main achievements of the institution in its coordinating role for building geospatial information infrastructure in Albania, as well as the services provided through the National Geoportal, which publishes all geospatial information produced by public institutions.
Access to this data is very important for creating a risk map and the Regional Electronic Risk Atlas (ERRA), which is one of the main products of this project.
